About

Allan Wylie is completely blind and an aspiring sports broadcaster / color commentator. Allan is committed to being the best broadcaster he can be. He is attending Rowan University. Sports have been a big part of his life since he was 3 years old and loved listening to Cleveland baseball games on the radio. Then, Allan added listening to Cleveland basketball games including post-game (when his parents thought he was sleeping). Around 11 years old, Allan was listening to as many radio game broadcasts and other sports radio programs as he could. Allan realized that he wanted to and could do what he was hearing on the radio.

When Allan entered high school, he had an opportunity to take a TV production class. That teacher gave Allan the chance to do color commentary for his high school’s varsity home football games starting in the fall of 2021. This led to more opportunities. Since that fateful first game of Westlake vs Rhodes, Allan has done color commentary for 3 seasons of football games and select high school basketball games for 3 seasons. That experience opened the doors to some professional games as well. Allan did the color commentary for 2 games for the Cleveland Charge, Cleveland Cavs G-League affiliate, and 7 games for the Lake County Captains, Cleveland Guardians High A affiliate.

Allan’s ability to capture and describe the game without being able to see anything has been covered in multiple news stories. Allan has been featured in an article in the Athletic which also ran in the New York Times. Allan was interviewed on Here and Now on NPR and by Danny New on ABC News.

During his senior year in high school, Allan was a regular contributor on NewHD Media. Allan provided his take on a variety of sports topics.

Allan is currently one of the radio broadcasters for the Delaware Blue Coats and can be heard on Rowan 89.7, channel 2.
